Tapas Tour in the Old Town
2012
Eat food the way locals do
Tapas started as a bite to go with your drink, but they have evolved into a whole way of eating, a culture of food in itself. More than a type of food in special, it’s about finger food or small portions to share with your friends and family. Let’s experience it together!
Our tours are private tours for your party only. No strangers joining your tours.
In 4 hours expect to:
Visit 5-8 local bars
Try 2-3 specialties in each place
Order things you’d never dared ordering on your own (and love them!)
Experience what tapas really are
Transportation: 100% walking tour.
Recommended starting times: Noon (for lunchtime tours) or 7pm (for dinner tours)
Tour is available Mon-Sun.
Monday and Sunday are the weakest days as most bars chose one or the other for their day off.
In August many bars are closed for holidays: the tour can still be run, but the bar variety won’t be as exciting…
DID YOU KNOW… That lunchtime tours can include the fabulous tapas bars of the Boqueria Market? (except Sunday and August).
During this tour you’ll discover the way Tapas are presented in different Spanish regions (Basque tapas, Galician tapas, Catalan tapas, Andalusian tapas…), and experience different atmospheres(from shabby bars, to traditional taverns, to trendy design tapas venues). All different, and all the BEST!
And you’ll get to sample different specialties (meat & sausages, cheese & ham, fish and seafood, veggies and eggs…) cooked in different ways (fried, steamed, grilled…), as well as to drink local beers, wine, cider, sangria, cava…
There will be options for the whole family, even for vegetarians!
Please let us know in advance if there is anyone with special food requirements so we can plan ahead.
Expect to visit 5 to 8 different venues, spending 20 to 45min in each and eating 2-4 different tapas in each place. Tapas plates can be small as appetizers or big as a starter. We’ll order several in each place and share. Come with an empty stomach!
Take into account that locals eat later than your tour will start: this way you’ll be able to enjoy your food more at the beginning, and experience the crowds towards the end!
WHY FOOD & DRINKS ARE NOT INCLUDED?
Some people are adventurous eaters, while some other would rather stay in their safe comfort area; some love expensive wines, while other prefer beer. This tour should be a treat for you, so it doesn’t make sense that we make you eat a set tapas menu for a certain amount per person. It’s way more fun if you can chose every time what you want to eat and drink.
