5 Great Gothic Quarter Restaurants In Barcelona

TOP RESTAURANTS IN GOTHIC QUARTER OF BARCELONA

El Barri Gotic is an oasis in the middle of Barcelona. Spending some hours to discover its corners and streets is an experience you can not miss. Just relax and enjoy it without looking at the clock. And when you are hungry, don’t worry: stay to eat in Barri Gotic. Many places are tourist traps, but we tell you where to go so you are not disappointed.

Today’s post can also be helpful if you are staying in one of the Barri Gotic Hotels and need places to eat nearby.

These are our favorite Barri Gotic restaurants:

1

Bodega La Palma

Bodega is the Spanish word for cellar, and La Palma is an authentic traditional cellar with more than 75 years of history. Entering here is like traveling back to the past. Their specialty are traditional tapas (we love their red peppers stuffed with mushrooms!), and they also have a Daily Specials set menu for lunch.

2

El Cercle

People walking down Els Arcs street look up with envy to the lucky ones enjoying a meal on the terrace of the Reial Cercle Artistic. Little do they know that the restaurant of this private art society is open to anyone! They serve a painstaking Catalan and Japanese cuisine in an elegant setting that will make you feel like an intellectual of the early 1900’s.

3

Raso Terra

Looking for some healthy food to counterbalance the excess of tapas? This vegetarian restaurant is mostly visited by locals who enjoy their variety of nicely prepared soups, main courses and tapas. Their egg cassoulettes are a must! Their creations are so delicious and creative you’ll forget it was all vegetarian! Definitely one of our favorite Barri Gotic restaurants.

4

La Vinateria del Call

If you have been exploring the Gotic Quarter in the afternoon and need a place for dinner, don’t miss this wine bar hidden in the alleys of the Jewish Section. A gourmet tavern serving over 160 different Spanish wines and delicious high-quality tapas. A great place to enjoy some exquisite cheese and wine pairing.

5

Sensi Bistro

Gourmet tapas in a modern setting. Their truffle Spanish omelet with wild mushroom mayonnaise is to die for. They have always at least half a dozen vegetarian choices, besides their meat and fish tapas. They also do miniature cuisine: elaborated dishes served in tapas portions so you can order more than one dish and try a variety of things.

AND BONUS! The restaurant where Picasso used to hang out:

6

Els 4 Gats

Opened in 1897 in the street level of a modernist building by Josep Puig i Cadafalch, this place used to be a bohemian meeting point for the artists of the late 1800’s and early 1900’s such as Picasso, Santiago Rusiñol or Ramon Casas. They have preserved the original decoration that will remind you of Paris. At night, they have live piano music.
