5 Recommended Hotels At Barcelona Airport

CONSIDERING BARCELONA AIRPORT HOTELS?

Although I wouldn’t recommend to stay in hotels at Barcelona airport as a base to explore Barcelona, if you have a really early flight sometimes it can be convenient to stay as close as possible to the airport. Specially if that hotel offers transfers.

However, let’s make it clear: the city center is just 20-30 min away from the airport, so many times it might be more rewarding to stay in town in order to enjoy the city nightlife and a good restaurant, rather than wasting your time in a boring industrial area around the hotel just to get 20 minutes more sleep.

Not to mention the money spent in taxis back and forth your Barcelona airport hotel to the city. In the other hand, there aren’t many choices right at the airport: most of the so-called “Barcelona airport hotels” are actually 10 minutes drive from it… Anyway.

These are our recommended hotels at Barcelona airport and surroundings:

1

Hotel Barcelona Aeropuerto

Located in a business area, 8 minutes drive from Terminal 1. This hotel is great for business trips, and also if you want to keep exercising when you are traveling: they have 5 “fitness suites” equipped with treadmill, elliptical or exercise bike, so you don’t even have to go downstairs to the gym to train. They also have some family rooms for upto 4 people, with details for your kids and a baby kit. Book it here.

2

BAH Barcelona Airport Hotel

Very close to the Tryp, both are Barcelona airport hotels with shuttle to the airport but BAH also offers transfers to the city center. It is equipped with a gym, an outdoors swimming pool with waterfalls and paddle tennis courts.

There is free wifi for guests, and the hotel is certified as eco-friendly. Note that there used to be a Renaissance Barcelona Airport hotel right around the corner, but it’s currently closed. Book it here.

3

Hyatt Regency Barcelona Tower (former Hesperia Tower)

At the edge of the city of Barcelona, but still less than 15min drive from the airport, this skyscraper by Richard Rogers stands out by its unusual architecture showing off beams and pipes. Indulge in their huge spa area with indoor pool, jacuzzi, hammam, gym and fitness rooms. It’s also one of our favorite Barcelona airport hotels with shuttle both to the airport and the city center. Book it here.

4

Sallés – Ciutat del Prat

Just a bit further, a the edge of the El Prat de Llobregat town – this is just 11 minutes from the airport. Although el Prat is a working class suburb without much charm, staying hear at least you’ll have some simple food options nearby.

It offers free wifi for guests, and it has an indoor pool, sauna and gym. The rooms are decorated in a traditional style that will make you forget that this is mostly a business hotel. Book it here.

5

Hotel El Castell

So far our list of hotels at Barcelona airport has been quite dull: mostly business-like hotels. But I personally try to find places with some charm when I travel. If you are like me, you might want to check out this hotel located housed in an impressive modernist villa.

Just don’t be fooled by its appearance: it’s charm what you get here, but not a luxury service. After all, it’s only a 3-star. It’s 15 minutes drive from Terminal 1. Book it here.

AND BONUS! Your option RIGHT at the airport?

6

Sleep&Fly (Air Rooms)

If you really need to spend the night over at the BCN airport and you aren’t looking for anything fancy, then this might be the option for you. Rooms for rent next to the airport business center. Really convenient and with just the basics you need to be ready for very early morning flight. Book it here.
