Tossa de Mar is an iconic seaside village that seduced Ava Gardner during the filming of Pandora and the Flying Dutchman. A rocky hill towers in one end of the bay, protected by a line of old fortifications: the only medieval enclosure by the sea that can be seen in Spain.
Choose to either climb the hill to enjoy the views and walk around the cobblestone streets of the old town, or walk around its commercial street for some interesting local shopping, or just relax and have some beach time.

CALELLA DE PALAFRUGELL
Lovely fishing village
11AM
Palafrugell is a town that consists of smaller villages. Your first stop here will be Calella de Palafrugell. Not to be confused with the ugly Calella de la Costa near Barcelona, this traditional fishermen village is famous for its porched beach houses and old fashioned boats. The popular sailors songs called “habaneres” are often inspired in this town. It is now a favorite Summer destination for well-off Barcelona families.
A short 15 minutes drive will take you to our favorite bay in the area: a tiny beach surrounded by cliffs and pine trees that almost reach the sea water: Tamariu. This is a great spot for both beach time and lunch.
Time allowing, before heading back to Barcelona you can make another short detour to visit the Sant Sebastià lighthouse, the brightest of the whole Catalan coast, with outstanding views over the Mediterranean.
