Javier introduces himself

After working as a Tour Guide for 7 years in Spain and Europe, I started working as a Local Guide in Barcelona in 1996. I also worked at the Sagrada Familia to get a deeper knowledge on Gaudi.

In first place, I’m a traveler: I love to see the world and its wonders. I am so passionate about it, that I have live half of my life in exotic places like the Caribbean, the Philippines, Egypt, Japan or the Maldives.

What we love about him

Javier is a wonderful guide, always ready to deliver the best tour you can imagine. He is extremely knowledgeable and informative, but he wants your tour to be enjoyable and fun, not tough. That’s why he chooses to deliver his knowledge by entertaining you with interesting stories.

“That is why I try to deliver what I expect to receive when I hire a guide myself. I do not want to listen only all the information that I can find online, but to the real vision that only a local can have. I expect: flexibility, relax, fun, interest and an open mind to switch to what the client is looking for. So basically: “It is all about the customers”.

He is personable, and amazing at customizing your tour based on your interests and needs: he’ll be glad to answer all your questions and show you those things in Barcelona that you probably would not have found on our own.

But above all, he’s great at sharing his passion for Gaudi:

“My favourite moment is when we get into the Sagrada Familia, and my clients are looking up with the faces full of joy…”

What customers say

This is why everyone raves about Javier:

Ivana C (Toronto, Ontario, Canada)

It was our first trip to the city and we knew very little about it. It was as though he was sharing a treasure with us. Each place we went was more interesting and beautiful than the previous one. His love of the history and the people was infectious and left us determined to return.

Deborah and Richard Sasson (Houston, Texas, USA)

Like seeing the city with an old friend.

Allsail (Westport, Connecticut, USA)

With a private tour, clearly the personality of the guide can make or break the experience. Javier was fabulous! Not only was he extremely knowledgeable about the Sagrada, having worked there years before, but he was easy to spend time with.

Trix4kids (Toronto, Canada)

We spent 4 glorious days in Barcelona and booked 2 private tours. We were blessed with having Javier assigned as our tour guide. He was extremely knowledgeable, personable and couldn’t have had a better experience. He kept the children engaged at all times and mesmerized us with the incredible history and beauty of Barcelona. You won’t be disappointed!

Jpax (Menphis, Tennessee, USA)

He can answer nearly any question.

Jed Stone and Rena Zaid ( Highland Park, IL, USA)

Javier’s knowledge of Gaudi architecture fascinated us. Javier was able to bring to life those marvelous buildings and fill our imaginations with stories of Gaudi and the building of his cathedral.

In short, Javier was a master.

Derrick R. (Australia)

The best tour guide we have ever been with.

Etantleff (Long Island City, NY, USA)

He showed us many hidden gems in the City.

EH10014 (New York, USA)

He was considerate of my husband’s interest in stopping for pictures in our slightly slower walking pace and never made us feel rushed. That being said, due to his good time management abilities we still got to do and see everything on the itineraries.

Mjadse (Irvine, California, USA)

His explanations were the right amount of history and human interest – never boring.

Wendy T

Javier is a true Renaissance man! His passion for architecture, history, art, photography, his country and… WHIMSY were all infectious and we learned SO MUCH while seeing the Gaudi sites at the same time. I can not recommend the entire experience highly enough! Book with Javier and know you are in good hands, will laugh A LOT, learn A LOT and remember the experience forever!!!

Deborah and Richard Sasson (Houston, Texas, USA)

What a delight he was.

Imsperio (Boston, Massachusetts, USA)

Javier was terrific. We stopped at small sites such as a charming pastry shop for traditional Barcelona chocolate and churros and also visited monumental sites including of course the awesome Sagrada Familia where Javier’s presentation was specially enlightening. We could not have had such a meaningful experience at this astonishing masterwork without his guidance. The tour was well organized and so interesting that time flew by. It was a highlight of our trip to Spain and well worth the price.

Imsperio (Boston, Massachusetts, USA)

Javier was our guide for 3 half days in Barcelona and worth every penny.

Goodthing (Chicago, Illinois, USA)

Genuinely loves what he does, and he loves Barcelona. He will make sure you love it too, by the end of your tour.
