WE SORTED OUT THE BEST HOTELS AT RAMBLAS FOR YOU

La Rambla (or sometimes referred to as Las Ramblas) is a whirlpool of people walking up and down. It’s the center of the Old Town, a boulevard flowing non-stop from the Eixample district to the Old Port. Busy the 24 hours of the day.

The location is great as headquarters to explore Barcelona, as you’ll be walking distance from many great sites and there are some fun food options around. Unfortunately many hotels on la Rambla are tourist traps, and you need to be careful when selecting where to stay in the area. If you need help, don’t miss today’s post.

Here are our 5 favorite hotels in Ramblas:

1

Le Meridien

Let’s start with a classic amongst the las Ramblas hotels. While the Meridien has been around for a long time, it has been recently renovated to adapt to modern necessities. Neither old-fashioned nor high-tech, it’s the kind of good old hotel that aims at being convenient rather than unforgettable. Book it here.

2

DO

If you are a foodie, this will be your perfect choice: the first gastronomic boutique hotel in town and one of our favorite boutique hotels in las Ramblas and the whole city. They combine the exclusive services of a 5 star hotel with an excellent cuisine that can be enjoyed in three different spaces: their hotel restaurant, their outdoor terrace in Plaça Reial and their rooftop. Book it here.

3

Bagués

Jewels and gems lovers will adore this boutique hotel in what used to be the headquarters of one of the oldest jewelries in town. In their mezzanine you can visit the MasRiera museum, with a gorgeous display of modernist creations by the ancestors of the Bagués. The design of the hotel rooms has also been approached as if they were little pieces of art. Book it here.

4

1898

Located right in front of Le Meridien, in the former headquarters of the company that used to import tobacco from the Philippines in the late 1800’s (hence its name). Cozy colonial decoration, and a great rooftop summer drink bar with views over the Old Town. It’s also the only one of all las Ramblas hotels featuring a complete spa. Book it here.

5

Petit Palace Boqueria and Petit Palace Opera Garden

If you are looking for hotels near las Ramblas rather than right on the busy main street, try these. Sharing the same location in a modernist building right off La Rambla, these two hotels might be confusing as they share facilities and they seem to be quite similar even in pricing (both are 4-star hotels, too).

Both offer free breakfast, wifi and access to a delicious romantic garden (a hidden gem of the Gothic Quarter). The main difference is that Petit Palace Boqueria seems to be better equipped when it comes to technology and business, and Opera Garden offers a luxury touch to those booking their Junior Suites.

AND BONUS! What hotel in la Rambla was originally a monastery?

6

Hotel Oriente

In 1842 a hotel opened in what since the 1600’s had been a Franciscan monastery, and actually one of their rooms still features arches of its old cloisters. The hotel was one of the first to incorporate electricity, was impacted by the last bomb to explode in Barcelona during the Spanish Civil War. Personalities such as Hans Christian Andersen, Maria Callas, Errol Flynn or the iconic bullfighter Manolete have stayed here. Luxurious in the past, now it’s a decent 3-star hotel with lots of history. Book it here.
