Are you REALLY into wine? You don’t mind driving 2 to 3 hours off the beaten path to taste some exceptional wine? Budget is not an issue if the experience is worth it when it comes to tasting?
Connoisseurs started becoming interested in the Priorat wine region some years ago, and the mass public is just starting to hear about it now. The slate and quartz soil of these terroirs produces wines of a strong personality and surprising beauty. The sharpness of its rocky landscape adds value to the trip.
We work with a selection of small family owned award-winning Priorat wineries. But if you have a favorite brand that you would be interested in visiting, we are open to organizing your custom tour there (as long as they accept visitors).
Come discovering with us the cellars that one day will be as famous as the ones in La Rioja…
Your private tour guide and your driver will pick you up at your location in Barcelona city and drive you past the suburbs of Barcelona, the vineyards of the Penedes area, and the Tarragona fields all the way to the Priorat county.
It’s a long ride, so you’ll be stopping at least once on the way for a quick coffee and toilet.
Arrive to Priorat and join the winery owner at the vineyard to admire the magnificent views over the vineyards and learn about the region and its wine-making tradition from a real local. After that, head to the winery to visit the venue and enjoy a great wine tasting.
After the cellar, enjoy a traditional lunch at a genuine local restaurant. After lunch there will be some time to walk around the village and enjoy the scenic views of the surrounding mountains.
Back to the car, you’ll be able to use the ride to discuss the day with your guide, ask questions or get recommendations for the rest of your stay. Or if you prefer, take a nap to help you digest all the food and wine!
You’ll be dropped back to your hotel or apartment, or any other location within the city limits of your choice.
Are you looking for an incredibly unique experience and budget is definitely not a limitation? Let us take us to a very exclusive winery in Priorat that produces exceptional wines. They aren’t interested in receiving the average tourist that isn’t prepared to appreciate the subtlety of their products, which is why they have purposefully raised the price of their tastings to match their wines.
If that’s what you are looking for, you’ll be welcomed at this award-winning cellar and by the owner, then follow him around the winery to learn about their high end wine making, their company philosophy and the history of the area. See the boxes of selected wines reserved by top Michelin starred restaurants.
The visit ends with a spectacular wine tasting guided by the owner, but the experience continues with a gourmet 4-courses menu at his favorite local restaurant.
This tour is aimed at people that are seriously into wine and don’t mind long car rides to enjoy extraordinary wines, even if that implies a considerable money investment.
If you are traveling with kids, this tour is not a good choice. If you want a wine tour that is also kid-friendly, consider booking our wine and chocolate tour, or a Montserrat and Wine tour, both taking you to the Penedes area, that is closer to Barcelona.
If you have walking issues or use a wheelchair, take into account that there are stairs to get to the cellars in most wineries and we might not be able to provide an adapted tour. We suggest you choose one of our Penedes tours, where the cellar offer is wider and some cellars are wheelchair friendly.
