BARCELONA TO TARRAGONA DAY TRIP
UNESCO World Heritage Sites
Are you a history and archaeology lover? Do you love Italy but hate its crowds? When you hear “UNESCO World Heritage”, do you immediately think “I need to see this!”? Would you like to go 2000 years back in time for a day? Or maybe you are in Barcelona in the winter and want to go on a day trip but somewhere somewhere interesting but warmer than the North or the Mountains?
The Tarragona Roman Ruins are the most important in Catalonia, and have been declared World Heritage by the UNESCO. But even in the Summertime they never feel crowded. And its Southern location makes for lovely weather most of the year.
If you don’t want to worry about taking the train by yourself and having to get oriented, and most importantly, you want to learn as much as possible about the fascinating history of this city that was even Capital of the Roman Empire for a few years, this is the tour you need.
WHY YOU'LL LOVE THIS TOUR
- Travel 2000 years back in time
- Feel like in Italy but without the crowds
- Visit remarkable UNESCO World Heritage sites... that are just a tiny portion of what the city of Tarraco once was

TAILOR THIS TOUR TO YOUR UNIQUE NEEDS
This tour is great for people with a strong interest in history, specially in the Roman times. But it also works great for someone that wants a lovely day out of town taking pictures and being outdoors (specially in the winter). It’s also a great choice for those wanting to go off the beaten path, as despite being a UNESCO Site there aren’t crowds.
If you have walking issues or use a wheelchair, take into account that there’s irregular and cobble-stoned pavement in some areas of Tarragona and part of the visit is uphill.
If you are traveling with kids, this is a cool option because it’s educational but also allows them to explore, go cross-country in the Aqueduct, climb stairs in the Pretorium, enter tunnels in the Circus, and of course, touch old stones (which is always cool). If your kids are young, a 6-hour tour is enough unless you wish to take them for lunch by the sea in Sitges.
If you’d rather have a longer day, we can stay for lunch and make it an 8-hour tour, or if you prefer, besides Sitges, Tarragona can also be nicely combined with the Wine Country.
