The Barcelona Magic Fountain
The most famous fountain in Barcelona was designed by Carles Buïgas for the World Fair in 1929. Located in one end of Passeig Maria Cristina, it is famous for a fascinating color, water and music show taking place every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday night every half an hour in Summer (only Fridays and Saturdays in winter). The Miró Museum
The Joan Miró Foundation is must-see for any art lover. Designed by the architect Josep Lluis Sert, a personal friend of Miró, it was the first contemporary art museum in the city. The collection features more than 10.000 works including paintings, sculptures, tapestries… from the very first sketches to some huge works by Joan Miró. The Montjuic Castle
On the top of the hill you’ll find the Castell de Montjuic, a military fortress that has lost its military uses and is now managed by the city council, that often organizes there plenty of cultural and leisure activities. From there you can enjoy breathtaking views over the city, and visit a display where you’ll learn about the importance of the hill and the castle as an strategic location during wars.

Plaça Espanya
Located at the foot of the hill, this monumental plaza was the main entrance to the World Fair in 1929. Two tall towers imitate the belltower of Saint Marco in Venice, while an impressive fountain represents the 3 seas surrounding Spain. The other end of the square is occupied by a former bullring now turned into a modern shopping mall.

The Olympic Ring
Barcelona celebrated the Summer Olympics in 1992, and most of the sport facilities where built in the Montjuic Hill in what’s known as Olympic Ring, a scenic area of 400 hectares. The Olympic Stadium Lluís Companys and the Palau Sant Jordi are the most popular facilities and they are not only used for sport events but also for cultural events such as concerts or festivals.

The Rooftop Terraces of the MNAC Museum
This impressive building built for the 1929 World Fair houses now the largest museum in Catalonia – another must for Art Lovers! For a small fee you can get to its rooftop terraces from where you get spectacular views over the city.
