Review of our Gourmet Tapas Tour of Barcelona

We were a group of 3 couples. Marta took us on the Gaudi tour, Bari Gotica tour, and a Tapas tour. We had a ball over the 3 days. Marta was prompt, solicitous to our welfare, extremely knowledgeable, and most of all-- FUN! Anytime I hear of someone going to Barcelona, I'll recommend they contact Forever Barcelona and ask for Marta. She made the city come alive for 6 people who had never been there before! Thank you, Marta!

The tapas tour made us feel like locals.

For our Tapas and Wine Bar tour we had Bego, who was friendly and knowledgeable and completely professional.

We booked a tapas tour with ForeverBarcelona and I am SO glad we did! We visited 5 separate tapas bars, and every one had its own specialty. Marta puts so much thought into the way she composes the tour, making sure to choose bars for their unique specialties. And she would give us a heads-up of what was to come so that we didn’t duplicate our experiences. For example, at our first stop, vermouth was their specialty. I’m not a huge vermouth fan, so I was going to order cava. She recommended that I not do that because one of our later destinations was known for their cava. She kept us on track and made sure we tried the right things in the right places. Marta was a huge help in choosing which tapas to order. She served as a translator, host, ambassador, historian and more. Absolute highlight of our Barcelona visit.

We are just back to the hotel from a Tapas Tour with Miriam. What a wonderful evening! This is our third trip to Barcelona and our only regret is that we didn’t do this tour on our first trip. She introduced us to areas – and food and wine – that we never would have found on our own. We would only suggest that if you take this tour you pace yourselves: The food and wine at the first stop was amazing – and there were 4 more restaurants, equally good, to follow.

Marta was superb, we were introduced to tapas that we would never have been brave enough to try on our own in amazing bars that we would never have found on our own. Marta intended to finish the tour at a wine bar but when we explained that our children didn’t like wine but loved cocktails, she took us to a wonderful cocktail bar that later discovered was frequented by the likes of Sophia Loren; the kids were truly impressed!

Marta has all the connections you need even when you don’t think there is a spot to sit! All the tapas we tried were very good and we really enjoyed some special desserts after.

We had a marvelous time!!! We experienced different types and presentations of Tapas restaurants. It was an astronomical epicurean delight!

My personal highlight was the tapas tour, the best experience I had on our vacation.

Marta was an excellent guide. Her love of Barcelona was matched by her knowledge. Marta has made relationships in the city that only a native can cultivate that help to elevate our experience. Our tapas tour was an eating freezy, once Marta saw our capacity we managed 6 restaurants and 20 dishes. It was an amazing evening. We so appreciated that she was able to make changes on the go. You are in good hands with her.

Tapas Tour Terrific!!!!! Marta and her tapas tour is absolute perfection!! She customizes the tour to your gastronomical likes and dislikes!! She takes you to local spots and the food and atmosphere are tops in Barcelona!! Can’t recommend her highly enough!!

Tapas like the Barcelona locals do! We four friends had a great evening with Marta guiding us to lively tapas places that we never would have found as tourists. She brought us to exceptionally crowded tapas bars (intimidating) but she would jostle through the crowd and ensured we got a table to eat comfortably.

Marta was an excellent Tapa Tour Guide! She was provided good information not only on tapas but on the historical points we passed during our walk. She provided us with a variety of tapa venues and different types of tapas. We highly recommend her.

We booked Javier for a tapas tour and was so pleased to have someone who could bypass the tourist stops and go right to the locations where they were more authentic to the food scene.

Bego was an excellent guide and showed us areas and tapas bars in Barcelona we never would have experienced on our own. we had this tour the first night we were in town and were able to find our way around on our own after it. She introduced us to regional specialty tapas dishes and gave us recommendations for the wine. We loved the tour and Bego!

Having done this tour last year I highly recommend it! Specially for any foodies out there. Marta knows all the best Tapas places to go to and will make your trip to Barcelona your favorite one. I an’t wait to go back for another round of tapas hopping.

Marta took us to 5 very different tapas bars. Each bar was unique. Marta was very helpful with suggesting tapas to order and wine and/or sangria to drink. The bar with the porrons was great fun. The staff at the tapas bars knew Marta and when they saw us coming with her, they steered us to empty tables and served us quickly so we could get on with our tour.

She showed us a variety of tapas restaurants and did an excellent job of explaining the food, as well as the history behind the eateries and the food itself.

Just fabulous. Montse let us set the pace and with her leading us, 4 adults and 2 teens, we hit 5 places, all so very different. Little holes in the wall to new modern Basque spots. Loved them all. Great food, conversation and beverages. Our guide was very informed about history, geography and politics. Learned a lot about Spain’s regions that we wouldn’t have gleaned from our four days in Barcelona otherwise. Highly recommend it, well worth the price.

Three Australian couples were led by our ‘pied piper’ Marta to the wonderful market stalls & various hidden eateries around the Barri Gotic in Barcelona. It was wonderful – we knew from Marta what was coming into season, what the specialty of each place was, what to drink and also learned some of the wonderful history behind it all. We all had to pass on ordering at the last Tapas bar as we were all too full, but returned the next evening to sample it on our own.

Our tapas tour with Marta was truly one of the true highlights! As “foodies”, well really just people who love adventure in eating & drinking, this tour was such a treat! Marta took us to fantastic local places that we likely would not have visited. Marta planned our tour to be sure we had a completely different tapas & wine experience in each restaurant. Different tastes & types at each place we visited and everything DELICIOUS! Marta always made sure we understood why she was making the particular pairings and was even able to share the history that went along with some of the restaurants, making it even more of a personal experience for us. We even finished the evening with “dessert tapas”! This was one of the most fun experiences we have ever had on our travels.

My husband and I are big foodies and we were excited to try the tapas in Barcelona. We wanted someone local to take us to the best spots and found Marta. It was a really fun experience. Marta was punctual, spoke English very well and was very knowledgeable with regard to the restaurants and foods in Barcelona. I don’t speak Spanish or Catalan and neither does my husband so it was helpful to have Marta order specialties of the region for us. She introduced us to freshly harvested Padron peppers that are fried and sprinkled with sea salt. They have a delicious flavor and most are mild. But every once in a while you will bite into a spicy pepper – you never know which one you are going to get! The restaurants/bars she took us to ranged from upscale to hole-in-the-wall – a nice variety.

She can steer you to the best tapas bars and dusty bodegas in all of Barcelona. Absolutely fabulous.

We loved the tapas tour the evening after the Gaudi tour. Marga did a great job showing us through the Boqueria before we started the tour. The first stop at the Pintxos Bar was great. I think this was John’s favorite. My favorite was the second place that was one of Marga’s favorites when not necessarily on a tour. The last place was also a local favorite an excellent food. Marga’s knowledge of the food scene in Barcelona was outstanding. Maybe we will add the chocolate tour on our next visit. By the way, Marga’s recommendation of Can Sole for paella was excellent!
