Barcelona Full Day Walking Tour Itinerary

This is a sample itinerary for our Private Full Day Barcelona Walking Tour.
Final itinerary and timings might vary due to many factors (tickets availability, your location and pace, your main interests…)

10AM

GOTHIC QUARTER

The origins of Barcelona

10AM

Your Barcelona full day tour will start with a walk around the backstreets and plazas of the Gothic Quarter, seeing, Gothic courtyards, the Royal Palace of the Crown of Aragon, the Barcelona City Council and the Catalan Government building, among other.

CATHEDRAL OF ST. EULALIA

Gothic Architecture
The highlight of the Gothic Quarter is the Cathedral, an outstanding Gothic basilica where you can visit its choir, remarkable side chapels, the crypt of St. Eulàlia and an old cloister with geese living in it. Depending on your preferences, you can choose to just see it from inside, just do a quick in&out to check it out, or go inside with your guide and receive full explanations.

CALL

Medieval Jewish Section
Alternatively, your guide can take you to the Call, the medieval Jewish Section, where the medieval atmosphere is still in the air despite the attacks suffered in 1391. If you are interested, you can also visit there the oldest synagogue in Europe.

RAMBLA & BOQUERIA MARKET

A lovely stroll

11.30AM

Your Barcelona full day tour will continue in La Rambla, a famous promenade vibrant any time of the day and night. We’ll pass the flower market as well as some other interesting sites. Also there, the Boqueria Food Market is probably one of the best food markets in the whole world, and you will be amazed at the colors, smells and variety of the local and exotic products sold there.

PASSEIG DE GRÀCIA & CASA BATLLO

Around the Eixample district

12.30PM

Leaving behind the Old Town, we’ll enter the Eixample District or Expansion, home to the best modernist architecture in town (the equivalent to the French Art Nouveau). Passeig de Gràcia is the main street, where the top architects of the early 1900s competed against each other in the so called Block of Disagreement. One of them was of course, Antoni Gaudí with his Casa Batlló, that you’ll see from outside.

TAPAS LUNCH

Time to Eat!

1PM

We’ll stop to eat some great tapas around 1pm. It’s a great way to discover the local food by sampling lots of small plates to share. Casual food, fun and yummy!

CASA MILÀ (LA PEDRERA)

The Stone Quarry

2.15PM

In the afternoon your Barcelona Full Day Tour will take you exploring the rest of the must-see Gaudi sites. First we’ll enter La Pedrera / Casa Milà, where you’ll be fascinated by the chimneys and the view of the rooftop. You’ll also visit an exhibit about Gaudi’s projects and an apartment decorated with antiques from the early 1900’s that will help you understanding how people lived inside a Gaudi house.

3.30PM

PARK GÜELL

Fairy-tale land

3.45PM

A quick taxi ride will take you to the last stop in your Barcelona full day tour: Park Güell. Another unfinished project by Gaudí, it was commissioned by his friend and patron Eusebi Güell who envisioned a luxury housing development. The project failed, but it has become the most fairy-talish park in Barcelona.

4.30M

SAGRADA FAMILIA CHURCH

Unbelievable

4.45PM

We left the best for the end: another 10 minute taxi ride will take you to Gaudi’s Masterpiece, the Sagrada Família church, where he worked the last 43 years of his life until his death in 1926. Still a work in process, it’s scheduled to be completed by 1926-30 approx. Yet the inside is the most breathtaking place you’ve ever seen!

6PM

At the end of the tour, your guide can put you on a taxi or give you directions to take the subway or walk back to your hotel.
