Romantic Places To Propose In Barcelona

WHERE TO PROPOSE IN BARCELONA

There’s nothing more romantic than to propose on a trip abroad. Today is Saint Valentine’s day, the day of love par excellence, and so we thought it’d be the perfect time to share with you the most beautiful places to propose in our city: from gardens, to secluded corners in the Old Town, to high vantage points with the city at your feet. What would be your perfect spot? Keep reading to discover the magical locations that will become the best places to propose for the romantic moment that you’ll never forget.

These are the best places to propose in Barcelona:

1

Park of the Labyrinth

The Horta neighborhood hides one of the most beautiful romantic settings in the city: an inviting neoclassic park. Its original owner, a Catalan businessmen, decided to surround his villa with a romantic garden inspired in mythological love stories. Its main feature would be a cypress tree maze representing the fun and mysteries of young love. Invite your fiancée to enter the maze and when you reach the heart of it (a cypress tree pergola with a marble sculpture), show her the ring.

A magnetic feel will unite you to try and find your way out of the maze, and once you get out, find a bench in the park (by the waterfall, the reservoir, the canal or just in the woods, to celebrate your engagement with lots of passionate kisses.

2

Top of the Tibidabo Basilica

This is without doubt, one of the best romantic settings to proclaim your love: with the city of Barcelona at your feet. At the top of Tibidabo Mountain there’s a basilica built between 1902 and 1961. An elevator takes you to a vantage point in the rooftop, and you from there you can continue walking upstairs to the foot of the sculpture of the Holy Heart of Jesus that crowns the building.

In front of you will display the most amazing view of Barcelona and the Mediterranean sea that you can imagine, and behind will open the greenery of the Collserola forests and valleys. A perfect place, specially in the sunset, or any time during the day as long as it’s sunny (avoid in bad weather, as fog and clouds will ruin the views effect).

3

Sailing the Mediterranean sea

Another of the best places where to propose in Barcelona: isn’t it romantic to go on a sail ride along the Barcelona coastline? Ideal to relax with your loved one, enjoy a time at sea and see the city skyline. There are options available for all styles and budgets: a historical sailboat, a catamaran trip that will stop so you can bathe in the deep waters, a fancy yatch, an oldfashioned schooner

And if budget isn’t going to be an issue for such a precious moment in your lives, book a romantic private sail so you can have a ship just for the two of you. Bonus tip: plan your Barcelona trip to match the full moon and plan your sailing for that evening.

4

Cloister of the Santa Anna Monastery

Close to Plaça Catalunya and the Gothic Quarter, but hidden away in a secluded plaza, stands this monastery from the 1100’s, declared National Monument of National Interest in 1881. While the church was severely damaged during the Spanish Civil War and has lost its original domes, the cloister is a magical space with Gothic arches surrounding a silent garden.

After they started charging a very small entrance fee (just a couple of euro if you buy it here), tourists stopped visiting it as much as they did, what makes this cloister a perfectly quiet and most of the time empty and private place to pop the question. Bonus point if you will be in town May through July when the magnolia and the orange trees in the cloister garden are likely to be in full bloom.

5

Torre de Alta Mar

If you are looking for a more classical setting, and are looking for a great restaurant to pop the question in a romantic dinner setting, Torre de Alta Mar is what you need. This exclusive restaurant is located at the top of the Port Vell cable car tower built in 1929 for the World Fair. At 75 meters above the sea level, the panoramic views of the city and the sea are exceptional.

Local celebrities and international models and actors come dining here often – and the reason are clearly the views and its classy dishes. Plan to propose at the end of a very exclusive (and expensive!) seafood dinner with views. And after dinner, take her to the nearby W Hotel for a drink in the luxurious Eclipse bar, with some more impressive views over the beaches and the port.

AND BONUS! One more tips for spa lovers:

6

Aire de Barcelona

This cool spa inspired in the ancient Arabic baths is located in an enchanting domed basement near the Born quarter and offers plenty of options for couples. The experience starts with some time at the spa pools shared with other clients (but the access is limited to small groups at a time, so it never really feels too crowded and you often get to have a whole pool just for you), and then you can add a private massage: we recommend their Al Andalus ritual, that includes an exfoliation session on warm marble and massage with essential oils.

And there are many more rituals to choose from: all the premium packages include some extra time at the pools when the “basic package” clients are already gone and you feel almost alone there. They have nighttime sessions available, and there is an option to add chocolates and sparkling wine to the experience. Book it in advance here (the evening and weekend sessions are very popular and they sell out quickly).

What is your dream place to propose?
