The best way to visit the highlight of your trip
The Basilica of the Sagrada Familia is the undeniable must-see of Barcelona. The architect Antoni Gaudi turned this into a masterpiece that would take generations to be completed. The building is now in its final stages, transforming the city landscape forever as the last 10 towers start rising to the sky.
This church is like no other church. Religious visitors will vibrate with the spirituality that emanates from its architecture. But there are so many aspects to it, that even non-Christian feel their heart touched by this imposing monument.
Its science, math and engineering will be mind-blowing for those with a practical mind. Its human stories and hidden secrets will entertain children and curious adults alike. The history of the people who has been involved in its construction for generation will grow a bond with your own life path. The sun rays filtering through the stained-glasses will change your idea of what beauty means.
But for all this magic to happen, you need to enter the church in good company. Your travel mates and a Sagrada Familia tour guide that can grasp your interests quickly. Someone able to bring the stones to life, great at story-telling. Someone that can convey her expertise and deliver it with the words that will touch you and make you remember that day the rest of your life.
This is the goal of our Sagrada Familia tours: to help you create a moment of a lifetime.
WHY THIS SAGRADA FAMILIA PRIVATE TOUR IS THE WAY TO GO
IN THIS PRIVATE TOUR OF SAGRADA FAMILIA YOU WILL SEE:
Want tower tour or to stay a bit longer? Extend to a 2-hour tour for a supplement.
April thru October: Anytime between 1PM and 4PM
November thru March: Anytime between 1PM and 3PM (to take the most out of the sunlight)
AVAILABLE: Every Day.
- The dress code at the Sagrada Familia Church isn’t usually too strict, but they have occasionally banned access to people wearing short shorts (closer to their butts than to their knees), deep plunging necklines or open backs.
Our tours only include the towers upon request. You need to know that:
It is not possible anymore to just climb the stairs: the way up is now only possible by elevator. However, the number of tickets available is restricted to just a few every hour, for an extra fee.
If there is availability, you are given a specific time to get in the line for the elevator (either the one in the Passion façade or the one in the Nativity façade, but not both), and after a 5 to 20 minute wait you finally get in the elevator that takes you to almost the top of the towers. From there you must walk down: it is not permitted to use the elevator to go down anymore. The whole process takes almost one hour, so unless you are OK shortening the rest of the tour itinerary, you should book one extra hour to be able to do the towers.
Do we recommend the towers, though? Only for the adventure of climbing spiral stairs, but not for the views as you’ll get better views from many other city sites. After all, those towers were designed to be bell towers, not vantage points. Also, the way down is narrow and occasionally claustrophobic, and it is definitely not for people scared of heights.
Tour operators like us are only allowed to book tickets for the Passion Façade towers – should you be interested in the Nativity Façade towers you’ll have to go back to Sagrada Familia on your own some other day as those tickets are only available for individual visitors.
THE TOWERS ARE NOT ACCESSIBLE FOR WHEELCHAIRS, AND NOT SUITABLE FOR PEOPLE WITH HEART OR LUNG CONDITIONS, CLAUSTROPHOBIA OR FEAR OF HEIGHTS. CHILDREN UNDER 6 YEARS OF AGE ARE NOT ALLOWED INTO THE TOWERS.

TAILOR THIS TOUR TO YOUR UNIQUE NEEDS
This short private tour of Barcelona is perfect for people with focused interests, little time or a small budget.
If you are traveling with kids, this tour is a good choice because they’ll get to learn but won’t have time to get overwhelmed or exhausted.
If you have walking issues or are on a wheelchair, let us know in advance. Sagrada Familia is wheelchair friendly except for the towers, but the seating opportunities are limited. A complimentary wheelchair can be borrowed if necessary.
If you’d rather tour longer, consider adding an extra 30 minutes to spend more time exploring your chosen site. Or if your budget allows, go for a 3 or 4-hr tour that includes your chosen site and a few more.
If you are on a cruise-ship, remember that you’ll be given a convenient meeting point near the private access (it should be easy to find a taxi at the pier to take you there). Pier pick-up and drop-off are not available for this tour.
