Daytrip to Girona and Besalú
2012
Discover the Jewish Heritage around Barcelona
Learn about the past of the Catalan Jewish Communities and our Middle Ages, and get a great feel of a medieval town and a village in the countryside.
Our tours are private tours for your party only. No strangers joining your tours.
The Old Town of Girona keeps a charming Call (medieval Jewish Section) with a fascinating (and unfortunately sad) history. You can also visit there the Museum of History of the Jewish (:!: closed on Monday), or just walk around the medieval alleys and squares to enjoy the local atmosphere.
Besalú is a picturesque medieval village in the nearby countryside, that features the only Medieval Jewish Baths (mikhva) found in Spain so far. You can learn more about the history of our local Jewish community, as well as the Christian life that run parallel to it. The access through its millenarian bridge is not to be missed.
Tour is available: Mon through Sun.
Accessibility: Flights of steps and uphill streets in the Old Town of Girona. Cobble-stoned streets in both sites.
DID YOU KNOW… That in May Girona celebrates the “Time of Flowers” festival? A great time to visit it!
