Are you a chocolate lover? Do you love to try the best chocolate at every new place you visit?
If you are like me, chocolate is one of your favorite treats and you always try to include it in your trips. But researching where to go takes loads of time, and then it’s hard to match chocolate stores with the areas you’ll be visiting and at the right times…
Spare yourself all the planning trouble and come with us in this chocolate tour of Barcelona! Barcelona is a paradise for chocolate lovers: we have it in all its versions, colors and flavors. Come fall in temptation with us!
Final itinerary and timings might vary due to many factors (your location and pace, your main favorite treats, taking or not the chocolate tasting at the end…)
This itinerary starts in the trendy Born district, where you’ll have the chance to try the world best chocolate cake (2005 award). Next we’ll enter the Old Town through the backstreets near La Rambla, where old-school cafés and venues hid from the tourist crowds. And you’ll continue towards the backstreets near La Rambla to eat the best hot chocolate in Barcelona, rich and thick with churros, and other great treats.
Your itinerary will continue around the glamorous Eixample District where we’ll be stopping at selected gourmet food stores and bakeries offering delicious chocolate specialties, including our favorite Barcelona chocolate shop.
If you prefer, we can stay in our favorite chocolate store to take a private chocolate tasting where you’ll learn about the chocolate making process, the differences between chocolate, truffle and praliné, and how to taste chocolate as if you were in a wine tasting.
This activity will be in stead of the walk around the Eixample district, unless you decide to book an extra hour so there is time for everything.
The tour ends near Passeig de Gràcia. Your guide can put you on a taxi or give you directions to take the subway or walk back to your hotel. Or give you ideas for lunch… if you are still hungry!
This tour is perfect for any chocolate lover, as long as you can cover 1.5 to 2.5 miles (2.5 to 4km) in one morning, with frequent stops after 5 to 10 minutes of walk (but not always an opportunity to seat.
If you have children, this tour is perfect for them! But you might also want to check out our Sweet Barcelona Tour.
If you love chocolate AND wine, don’t miss our Wine & Chocolate tour.
If you have walking issues, we recommend to add a driver (the itinerary will have to be customized in order to make sense).
If you use a wheelchair, this itinerary is wheelchair friendly and you won’t need a driver.

We had so much fun with Marta and our chocolate tasting tour was more than expected. Our family of 7 had the best time touring Barcelona and sampling sweet things along the way. We loved every minute of it!
The chocolate tour gave us a sense of the lighter side of Barcelona. I use the term “lighter” advisedly. The voracious consumption of chocolate first thing in the morning is hardly the way to a “lighter” anything. But the tour was fun and interesting. The chocolates were marvelous. Javier was a master and his tour worth every Euro.
