Does Salvador Dali fascinate you and want to learn more about it? You’ve heard there’s very little information inside the museum (there are no audioguides, for instance) and fear going all the way there just not to get it? Want to skip the long lines that are usually formed in the high season? Or maybe don’t feel confident taking the train there?
The Dali Theater Museum is located about 1.5 hours drive from Barcelona in the artist’s hometown: Figueres. He totally transformed the ruins of the old local theater into a wonderful museum that is designed to surprise you every second. However, there’s lots of the artwork there that hide secrets hard to notice unless someone tells you, and other that just don’t seem to make sense… until someone reveals you how clever they are!
With our private tour, your guide will lead you into Salvador Dali’s always shocking and thought-provoking world. Your vision of his works will change for ever after this Barcelona Dali private tour!
Final timings might vary due tickets availability and season opening hours.
Your tour guide and your driver pick you up at your location (hotel/apartment within Barcelona city limits).
During the ride you’ll start learning about Dali’s passions, fears and obsessions, and how they translated into symbolism in his artwork. You’ll discover unexpected facts about his fascinating biography and how it influenced his works: how his inflexible father expelled him for his family, his relationship with his controlling wife Gala… So you are ready to take the most out of the visit of the museum.
Skip the lines with your guide and get to visit a museum designed by Dali himself in his hometown, that looks more like a fun fair than a serious museum: the best Dali Museum in Spain and one of the best in the world, featuring unique masterpieces as well as quirky pieces created in purpose to be displayed in this museum, where the artist actually lived during the last years of his life. Of course, the guide will be with you inside providing more explanations.
Use the drive back to Barcelona to continue discussing Dali or make other questions to your guide and get recommendations for the rest of your stay.
You’ll be dropped off back to your hotel or apartment, or at some restaurant for a late lunch on your own.
This tour is great for people interested in art, museum lovers and anyone curious to learn more about Gaudi.
If you are traveling with kids you need to know that the museum feels a bit like a fun-fair, so it’s relatively child friendly however there’s some sex-related content (that the guide can try to point to the adults only). Make sure to bring snacks for them, since this tour does not include a lunch stop and they might get hungry before getting back to Barcelona.
If you have walking issues, please take into account that the visit of the museum involves short flights of stairs: there are no elevators and it’s not adapted to wheelchairs.
If someone in your party isn’t too fond of Dali, be sure that this day trip won’t leave them indifferent either. They might even get a new respect for the artist, after all.

Tour of the city and Salvador Dali day trip, both these trips as private tours. Our tour guides were attentive and absolutely fabulous. They had bon an amazing knowledge of their subject and certainly history in general.
We just spent a week in Barcelona and used Begoña as our guide. Today we went to see the Salvador Dali Museum with her in Figueres and it is a must. She is a pro at being a guide.
None of us are Dali fans but she made the art come alive with his history and what he was doing in each piece. Many had different paintings and topics within one painting. By looking at it from different distances, one could see different things. We gained a respect for his art.
