Towel basket in one of the city hotels with spa (Barcelona, Spain)

Best Barcelona Spa hotels by number of stars

Happy New Year! Who said the Christmas holidays are relaxing? Family and social commitments, big meals, late nights up… Plus if you are celebrating the holidays abroad, add all the walking around, standing in line, absorbing as much as you can front the sites you are visiting, struggling to make yourself understood in a foreign language…

If you came to Barcelona, make sure to plan some time-off during your trip to get a real break and take care of yourself after a long day sightseeingChoose a spa hotel and submerge in healing waters, have your muscles rubbed and massaged, regal your skin with deliciously scented creams and oils.

That’s a real rest! Do you want to know where to find that in town? There are many hotels with spa services: we help you choosing the best for you!

The Very Best Spa Hotels in Barcelona: 5*GL

Did you know 5 stars isn't the highest rate a hotel can get? 5 star Grand Luxe is reserved for the best of the best. And it just makes sense that many of them feature exceptional spas. So let us start this post with the best of the best.

Ladies and gentlemen, these are the very best spa hotels in Barcelona:

Arts Ritz Carlton Hotel

Located in the 42 and 43 floors of the highest building of Barcelona, this spa doesn’t only offer spectacular views over the city, but it also is one of the few spa hotels near the beach (actually, overlooking it). It has everything to make you re you’ll feel like a star.

It is divided in separate areas for ladies and gents, each with its own sauna, pool, ice fountain and color therapy steam room. Their signature treatments are offered by the local exclusive cosmetics Natura Bissé! Book a room here.

Palace Hotel

The Mayan Luxury Spa of the Palace Hotel won the World Luxury Spa Award in 2019. They don’t have a water circuit, but they do have a Temazcal sauna and their treatments are super-creative treatments! Silk & Shells? Cacao? Aztek gold? Tahitian black sand?

They even have special kids packages for your little princesses and superheroes (that is, your children of course!). But for its originality, we choose their special temazcal Mayan rebirth ritual of the 4 elements. Maybe the best spa in Barcelona. Book a room here.

Majestic Spa (Majestic Hotel)

It was the first European spa hotel to get the SpaExcellence certification, and it totally deserves it. They have a hydrotherapy zone combining heat and water: dry sauna, ice fountain, steam bath and a sensations shower.

Among a huge variety of massages and packages, we love indulging in the luxury of their Majestic Diamond treatment, with real diamond dust. Book a room here.

W Barcelona

The W Spa features a swimming area, a jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. They also have private Cabanas overlooking the beach, equipped with 2 sun beds and minibar, and if you book their Extreme WOW ones, they also come with private jacuzzi.

Our favorite therapy here is the body glow treatment that polishes and hydrates your sking to bring it back its natural shine. Book a room here.

Claris Hotel & Spa

The setting is important when talking about spas. The decoration needs to inspire you, to relax you, to elevate you. And this certainly happens at the spa of Hotel Claris, the only one featuring ancient pre-Columbian archaeological pieces. As soon as you step in, you feel transported back to the Mayan times… in style. Not for nothing it won the World Award to the Best Historical Spa in both 2018 and 2019. Plus the best Emergent Spa in 2017. That means something!

Enjoy true Mayan massages and treatments, such as their Chuun Nak’ Mayan secret, or the Xocoatl Chocolate Ecstasi, or the Pre-hispanic Gold… Or experience a Mayan Rebirth experience in their Temazcal sauna. They also have special packages for teens and kids.  Book a room here.

Hotel Spa Sofia

What used to be an old-school business hotel anchored in the 1980’s has now become a place for hedonism, elegance and pleasure. And their spa is its epitome. And oasis of hot and cold water pools, hydromassage, dry and steam sauna, ice fountain…

And my favorite: a salt cabin where you can experience the healing properties of crystal salt. There’s only a couple of them in Barcelona, and it’s the only inside a hotel, as far as I know.

In their treatments they use exclusive products of local cosmetic brands such as Natura Bissé and Alquimia. And they also have private spa suites equipped with dry sauna, steam sauna and jacuzzi. What else?. Book your room here.

Hotel Miramar

If your goal for this trip is to get away from the stress of the city, without giving up its leisure opportunities, the Hotel Miramar is what you are looking for. It is located up in the Hill of Montjuic, surrounded by nature and spectacular city views. While the noise of the traffic is far away, the best city restaurants and attractions are just a quick taxi ride from it.

The use of the Spa is included for all guests, and it includes a heated indoor pool, hydromassage showers, jacuzzi, sauna and turkish bath, ice fountain. Two of their massage cabins can be used by couples. And all the treatments use cosmetics by L’Occitane – a true journey to the French Provence… without leaving Barcelona. Book your room here.

Hotel Alma

The W Spa features a swimming area, a jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. They also have private Cabanas overlooking the beach, equipped with 2 sun beds and minibar, and if you book their Extreme WOW ones, they also come with private jacuzzi.

If instead you’d rather stay in the city center, the Alma is another great option. It couldn’t be otherwise in a hotel whose name translates as “Soul Hotel”. Its minimalistic pool area will take your mind to a zen state. And your body will also unwind in the sauna and the steam room.

Many of the treatments use their signature Alma oil, and they combine western and eastern techniques to provide the holistic experience you crave for. And at the end of some of their special packages you’ll be served their special Alma juice or tea – the perfect way to reground. Book a room here.

Hotel Mandarin Oriental Barcelona

The luxurious spa with an Oriental touch. Their serene spa features an oriental steam room and relaxation area as well as a pool. But the best are their treatments, with products by Linda Meredith and Miriam Quevedo – the ultimate luxury. Don’t miss their anti-aging Glacial White Caviar Facial skincare!

They also have rituals inspired in the Chinese medicine and other vibrational healing techniques. And private suite packages that will provide much more than some quality time with your other half. Book your room here.

Gran Hotel La Florida -- TEMPORARILY CLOSED

If you came to Barcelona to relax and spend romantic times with your hubby, then that’s definitely the spa hotel you should be staying in: located at the top of the Tibidabo Hill, it might not be too convenient if you are planning lots of sightseeing but it’s great to forget about the city crowds.

Breathtaking views over Barcelona, one of the best infinity pools, a complete gym, beauty treatments and of course, massages for two are available, all with luxury products by L’Occitane. Book a room here.
